London Bus Routes 1934-2019

Ian Armstrong's wonderful site documents the history of London's red bus routes, individual route histories, vehicle allocations, destination blinds are all covered in detail. There are also many period photographs and route maps.

Ian's Bus Stop

Ian Smith's site is devoted to the buses used by London Transport and it successors, histories & photographs of all the different types that graced the streets of London and the surrounding countryside.

Many types included detailed indiividual vehicle histories with garage allocations.

A site dedecated to the Central Area Red RF vehicles & routes.

Mike Beamish's London Transport Page

Mike's page contains a number of photographs of the classic London Transport bus & trolleybus types from the 1960's.

Story of the RT

This film was originally released on VHS, now available on You Tube this hour long film covers the whole RT family including the Leyland versions.

The aspect ratio is a bit out unfortunately, but still well worth a view.

Overhaul (1957)

This BTF film documents the London Transport's Aldenham Overhaul process in detail.  Now available to view on You Tube.
